What is a smart keyless entry system?
Remote passive entry systems on a car, sometimes called keyless entry systems, come with a variety of key advantages. The most popular advantage of keyless entry is the convenience it provides. Even though they do similar things, Remote Start and Keyless Ignition are not the same things. Keyless Ignition lets you start and drive your car without needing to use a standard key. Remote Start is beneficial in extreme temps such as very cold or very hot days by letting you start the car and turn on the heat or AC. You will never get into a cold car again, just use the Remote Start and heat it up before you drive away.
A Smart Key is the electronic portion of your key that is used to remotely access a vehicle. The buttons for your wireless functions are usually found on the Smart Key itself, if not on the attached fob. A Smart Key then transmits signals to your vehicle to open the hatch, lock the doors, and so on. Some cars won’t start without the Smart Key, as they are connected to the anti-theft system.
