Bob Howard Hyundai can help you identify why your car is shaking.
One of the most uneasy feelings is when you notice your vehicle vibrate when driving. Is it a flat tire, did that pothole ruin my car suspension, or did I break the driveshaft? There are a few things that could be the cause of your car vibrating, and the severity of the potential damage can fluctuate greatly. The most likely cause of the shaking usually occurs near your wheels and tires. They plant your vehicle to the road, and if anything is out of place, you’re going to feel it. It could be a broken transmission mount or a broken caliper. These more serious failures might leave you stranded on the side of the road.

If you got different tires recently, the car shaking could be caused by the tires not being balanced correctly. Tire balancing is making sure the tire and wheel weight is. If you feel the tire vibration when you are driving, it may be a tire that is no longer balanced. If the new tires are balanced, but your car is still shaking, make sure the tire pressure is correct, and be sure to check if the lugnuts are completely tightened and make sure the tire pressure is correct. If you find that your tires are the cause of the shake, you should get it looked at immediately.
If your vehicle shakes when braking, that is a pretty strong signal that you need to have your brakes checked out. The most likely reason for your steering wheel shudder is warped brake rotors. When you push down on the brake pedal, brake pads compress against the brake rotors to stop your vehicle. If you want smooth braking, you must have a smooth brake rotor surface. A warped surface will cause shakes when braking, like how a brick road feels bumpier than an asphalt highway. Other possible causes of the vibrating include frozen brake calipers or damaged shocks. If you feel your steering wheel wobble, bring it to us, and we’ll check it out.
If a car is shuddering before you ever start driving, then you probably have some broken car parts. The most obvious reasons for a vehicle shaking in idle are:
The Driveshaft has Failed – If not perfectly balanced or damaged, it might be the source of the vibrations
CV joints That Have Failed – Working together with the driveshaft, cv joints get the engine power to the wheels and, if they are failing, can be the cause of the car shaking.
Engine Mounts That Are Broken – As the name suggests, these parts help mount the engine to the vehicle. If they are worn or broken, it can let your engine move around.
If you have realized there is a shudder in your vehicle, then bring it to us for an inspection. Our skilled technicians will diagnose the reason for the shaking and get you back on the road.
